Converting an existing building is not the same risk as building from scratch, because the structure you inherit has a history and the warranty has to account for it as well as for the new work. We place cover with specialist underwriters for developers taking on offices, barns, churches, pubs and period buildings, and we can usually tell you early whether a condition survey will be needed.
